The Minnesota Artists Association: 2013 Spring Juried Art Show runs from April 13th through May 18th.  The MAA is the first actual art organization in Minnesota.  It formed in 1937 when a group of artists joined forces to support and encourage each other in the face of adversity which was a result of the Great Depression.  Today the organization is made up of artists of all levels working in a variety of mediums.  The exhibit will include 90 works of art by 35 different artists. The show will open with a reception on Saturday April 13th from 7 to 9 pm.

Rachel Rolseth is a Minneapolis artist who combines various materials including acrylic paint, textured fine papers, gold leaf, charcoal, and ink to create her mixed media paintings.  Her work plays with the interdependence between shadow and light, yin and yang, and creation and destruction.
